Celebrating Life

If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate. ~ Sandy Dahl

This week’s Friday Celebrate Life post has a bit more of a somber tone than normal. Monday was Labor Day in the States. A day to honor workers, labor unions, minimum wage and the fight for equality in the workplace. PBS has several short clips on the history. It’s not often Labor Day is the same week as 9/11. While I will never forget what I was doing on September 11, 2001, most first world countries have a long history of terrorism and violence. I’m not sure if violence/hatred has ever resolved a conflict. It’s certainly never been a solution in my trials and tribulations.

Hugs Around the World: A Sister's Legacy of Love, by Gretchen

Where ever you are in the world and whatever struggles you’re going through, this has been a difficult year for everyone. This Friday, I thought it was worth pausing to honor all the sacrifices from people that have come before us. Weather you were protesting unfair working conditions or you’re an essential worker dealing with COVID-19 or your fighting forest fires or serving your country, I thank you and your families.

This weekend, I challenge you to spread some compassion even if it’s just a friendly smile.
