A river cuts through a rock not because of it’s power, but it’s persistence.
Another week has gone by. I’m not going to sugar coat it. This has been a hard week and at time rather soul crushing. The smoky conditions are still here and haven’t cleared as predicted on Monday. Our next chance of rain is overnight and this weekend. Between COVID and the smoke, we are pretty much housebound with no air conditioning. We have fans, but opening windows or walking outside isn’t an option. Your eyes burn, your throat burns and eventually you start coughing and have difficulties breathing. Even during lockdown, were were able to get outside. Now it’s not healthy to do that. My heart goes out to those closer to the fires and those living in the path of a hurricane.
Garden Update: Well, the last two sunflowers have bloomed. It’s been great to have some positive cheery flowers still going. None of them turned out purple, but I’ll try again next year. It’s official. We are not growing a lemon tree. I’m pretty positive lemon trees don’t bloom like this above. My limited research turned up a saffron flower. If you have any ideas please post in the comment sections.
This is the last sunflower plant to bloom. It still has a few more yet to open. If the weather holds out, I should have blooms for a few more weeks. The other items haven’t received much attention since I’m limiting my time outside.
Ernie has been my work companion this week. He especially likes to sleep beside me while I have meetings. I’m not sure which one of us enjoys this more.
Hope your week is going well. Stay safe out there.
