Climbing Mount St. Helens

Only crazy people wake up at 3:30 a.m. to hike up a volcano, but that’s what British Hubby and I did on Friday. Our bags were packed, our boots were tied tight and the kitties had a sitter. We traveled down a dark forest road making comments about Big Foot and being in an X-file episode, to arrive at the trail head right before sunrise. Here’s our first glimpse at the volcano.

And not soon after that little shrubs striving to survive in the ash.

Then comes the lava channels.

And a relentless climb up in the snow.

I did manage to get some knitting done on my orphans. I’ll post more about that later.

I’m ready for my close up now Mr. DeMille.
