If you cut your hair on Friday the 13th, someone in your family will die. ~ Unknown
I found the quote above online and it gave me a good chuckle. I wonder just how many people had haircuts yesterday unaware of the consequences? The British Hubby and I celebrated Friday the 13th not with fashionable new do’s. We decided it was the perfect way to kick off Monster Mayhem 2021. You may remember Monster Mayhem 2020 and 2019. There are just so many amazing scary movies out there we simply can’t watch them all in a single month.
You can probably guess which movies screened to kick off Monster Mayhem 2021 on a Friday the 13th. Of course it was part of the legendary Jason series with Friday the 13th Part 2 and Friday the 13th Part 3.
In Part 2, the body count didn’t hit double digits. Jason claimed eight victims. Part 3 has much higher body count with 13 victims. Part 3 was in 3D which did make the movie feel a bit silly at times, but it’s also the movie when the famous mask makes it’s debut. Sure these movies are a bit campy, but it was a great way to escape the extreme heat and smoky conditions. It was also a great way to end my first full week at my new day job.
Our celebratory Monster Mayhem 2021 kick off meal sort of resembled a Camp Crystal Lake cookout. We had keto buns, dogs and adult floats. Sure, my chocolate porter isn’t strictly keto, but I’m also trying to ensure my favorite local brewery survives the pandemic years. I was so excited for Monster Mayhem 2021, I snapped a photo before my protein source was ready!
I’ve made some slow progress on Behind Blue Eyes. It’s just big enough to hide behind during the scary Slasher scenes. It’s all garter stitch so I don’t have to worry about losing my place. Color three looks rather similar to color two, but it’s missing the speckles. I like how it’s turning out so far.
Burt was on hand to keep us safe from Jason attacks. I think some the of the 3D shots caught his attention.
What is your favorite movie to watch on Friday the 13th?
