“The thing I realize is, that it’s not what you take, it’s what you leave.” All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
I try to claim back my commute time by listening to audio books to and from work. The day job really does interfere with my crafting and literary pursuits. My latest audio book was Vanilla Beaned by Jenn McKinlay. How can you go wrong with a murder mystery in a cupcake bakery? This is part of a series. It’s actually book eight. While it was fine to listen to as a stand alone book, there were times when I could tell there was back story I was missing. This book was action packed. The cupcake crew was headed to Las Vegas. They encounter a stalker, an explosion, car crash, an Elvis convention, a shoot out and a shotgun wedding. It was the perfect story to take my mind out of work space. I see Sprinkle with Murder, book one, in my near future. Next up, The Call of Cthulhu and Other Stories by H.P. Lovecraft. I’ve wound my Grandma Gatewood yarn. I’ve settled on a pattern, Ridged for Your Pleasure, for a coworker that I consider spunky like Grandma Gatewood. I have a project bag. I even managed to get said coworker to measure her hands. Now I just to locate some needles roaming about the house.
Mittens seems to be my knitting theme for the moment. Maybe because it’s still chilly and wet most mornings. Or maybe I’ve finally reached hat saturation (I somehow doubt that). Or maybe I’m going to take over the world with knitted mittens? This past week, I cast on two more mitten projects. Glehnii is project two in my Stitch Sprouts class. Right now, the palm side shows the contrasting colors best. I have no idea what type of plant this is my back garden, but it’s a perfect color match. It’s too soon to really make out the pattern on the front of the mitten.
Next is my 21 Color Mitts. I had been eyeing this kit for awhile at my LYS. I finally caved. So far I’m just knitting ribbing. 40 rows of it be exact. Fortunately, I see a color change coming up. I wonder what color it will be?
23 Days and 18 hours before Ernie is radioactive. I’ve caught Burt and Ernie snuggling this week. The photo below sort of looks like Burt is protecting Ernie. I wonder if Burt knows what’s coming?
