We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.
It’s week six of working from home, but this week I’m on vacation from the day job. Sure it seems a bit odd, but the world is an odd place at the moment. I’ve been thinking a bit about how Godzilla comes out to protect the earth from mankind and nuclear destruction. I’ve also read this is a period of great awakening as the earth and humanity enter into a period of restoration and healing. I don’t know about you, but this has certainly made me rethink my priorities. How are things different this week? Our shelter in place order has been extended until May 4. And we’re now wearing masks and gloves while shopping or retrieving any curb side pick-ups. Never fear, the British Hubby liberated the masks from a car project he’s working on in the garage so we didn’t take any supplies from medical or essential workers. You can also make your own here from items around the house. We are still healthy, relatively sane and perhaps a little shaggy looking this week. I think the British Hubby is trying to look like Albert Einstein.
New this week, we’re taking part in the neighborhood bear hunt. Above is my original care bear cousin, Cindy. Cindy has been with me almost my entire life. Her official name is Lots of Heart, but I always believed she was my hidden source of strength as a child, young adult, teenager, college student and now as an adult facing life during and after a pandemic.
New in our garden this week, Steve and/or Stevette have made an appearance from their Winter slumber. Naturally, Steve Juniors won’t be far behind. If you’re new to the blog, the Steve family is our yard bunnies. They like to hang out under the bush in our front yard which just happens to rather close to the bay window in our lounge. The bay window is a favorite sunbathing, bird watching and Steve sighting spot for the kitties. I’m also sprouting some sunflower seeds to plant in the garden. I realized these are from our supply of bird feeder food so I’m not sure how this is going to turn out.
This week we tried Strawberry Breakfast Skillet from Easy Keto Breakfasts. Wow, was this amazing! This was my first time baking in our cast iron pan. I think it turned out well and not dry at all. This reminds me of an all in one strawberry shortcake recipe. We will be making this again soon.

I think Ernie and Gracie are trying social distancing this week. Or maybe Gracie was her usual grumpy self?
