In the rhythm of the needles, there is music for the soul.
June seemed to drag on and on forever, and now July is flying by. Or that’s how it feels. I think it’s due to the lack of knitting time I’ve had lately. I always think I can knit faster than I really can. Grandma’s Log Cabin aka Purple Rain now has four full skeins of yarn in it. Yes, there’s more than that with the other blocks, but I’ll include them once I finish a skein. This is getting huge.

Block 7 has 132 rows with 208 stitches per row. I started this block with less than a full skein of yarn. I made it about 54 rows in before needing a new skein. Now it’s a game of yarn chicken to see if I can complete this block without needing another skein.

Grandma’s Log Cabin II aka Little Boy Blue has almost doubled in size since the last time I ran out of yarn. It’s pretty small compared to Purple Rain, but that will change as Purple Rain requires more and more yarn.
Over July 4, we let ourselves go off diet partly because I hadn’t done enough research for keto recipes. That prompted me to have good food for all our special occasions. I discovered this cheeseburger casserole. It really does taste like a bacon cheeseburger and is fantastic with zoodles. This is going to become a winter time favorite. It’s warm, nutritious and pretty close to the Midwestern casseroles I had growing up. A healthy comfort food. We used ground chicken instead of beef to make it even healthier.

Gracie had the fright of her life this morning when the food bowls were empty and the carrier came back out. Ernie has bad teeth. They all get the same dental treatments. Yet, Ernie is slowly losing his no matter what we do. Ernie had his second professional teeth cleaning today. We knew going in he needed to have at least one tooth pulled. Fortunately, he handles vet visits the best with the least amount of fuss. Gracie on the other hand, hid for a good chunk of the morning. I imagine she meowed a sigh of relief when Ernie went in the carrier. Can you blame her? I don’t like going to the dentist.
