Craftvent Day 13 & Holiday Meals

Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.” ~ Saint Francis de Sales

Yesterday was Boxing Day. If you live in a Commonwealth country, you will already know about Boxing Day . If you weren’t colonized by Her Majesties forces, you probably think this is a celebration about brute force. Here’s one explanation. The British Hubby and I typically celebrate with lamb and Christmas crackers. This year we went rogue. No lamb, but a beef wellington instead.

Gordon Ramsey has a great recipe. It is time consuming, but that’s mostly due to resting and chilling times. We tried to save time by using store bought pastry. I think it tasted okay, but the British Hubby thought the pastry let us down. I suspect next time we will make our own puff pastry.

Finely chopped mushrooms, parma ham and beef tenderloin are chilled together once the beef is seared.

Store bought pastry with an egg yolk wash. Yummy! The British Hubby is quite the chef.

While we were binge watching Christmas movies (the list has grown) and making beef wellington, I managed to finish all 40 rows for day #12. Then the instructions went wild. I cut the yarn and put that piece aside. Just when I thought there were no more surprises left in Craftvent 2018, it went rogue.

Clue # 13 was more yarn, but we’re casting on and starting piece number two. Maybe there’s still hope for the dehydrated cat? Okay, probably not, but I’ve been wearing my fuzzy kitty socks to help keep the dream alive.

Burt was trying to blend in with the wrapping paper. I don’t think he’s figured out how blending works.

Hope your holidays were peaceful and relaxing. Just a few more days left in 2018, the year of Intrigue, Conspiracy and World Domination.
