People shouldn’t be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.
I love Guy Fawkes day. The British celebrate a plot to blow up parliament. Soon it will be 400 years since this event took place. With any luck, the British Hubby will be in England to celebrate. We’ve had great fun celebrating Bon Fire Night here on the blog. One year it snowed!

I know I’ve said this for the past few years, but every year this movie seems more and more like real life. We let fear of change, fear of scarcity, and fear of differences to rule our lives. We allow that fear to dominate our rational minds and hearts. We want to blame others for what’s wrong in our own lives instead of looking at our previous choices that have lead us to this point. Taking responsibility for our own mistakes and short comings is hard. I don’t enjoy admitting I made a mistake. I also know that instead of focusing on where to lay the blame, when I own my mistake I can move forward to a solution. That’s how we grow as individuals. By no means is it easy or comfortable, but it is necessary.

Since it’s Guy Fawkes day, I’m going to review the teas from my October tea challenge. What is more British than tea? My goal is to drink at least three packages of tea each month to clear out the massive amounts of tea I have from our travels. In October, I managed to use eight packages! Can I keep up this pace for the rest of 2020? Well, the colder it gets the more tea I consume it seems. Last month, all the tea was from Plum Deluxe. Here’s my list in no particular order:
- Spice of Life Cinnamon Black Tea
- Apple Cinnamon Chai Tea
- Vanilla Latte Tea
- Orange Blossom Black Tea
- Be Well Blend Black Tea
- Hammock Blend Black Tea
- Soul Warmer Herbal Tea – this one has no caffeine
- Almond Sugar Cookie Black Tea

Since the British Hubby is still not feeling 100%, we’re doing a low key Guy Fawkes celebration here with a household favorite, cheese on toast while watching V for Vendetta. I also managed to find a few forgotten non-keto British treats in the back of the pantry to go with my tea hot toddy (I suspect adult tea drinks are the real reason I’m clearing through my tea stash.)

I leave you with a close up of our favorite tabby kitty, Ernie, getting some head scratches. He likes to celebrate with snuggles and a kitty massage.
