Final Stage of TdS

Stage Six of Tour de Sock posted late Wednesday night. It's a lovely cabley toe-up pattern called Entanglements. Toe-up socks aren't my favorite. It could be I've simply made more cuff down socks. It could be I've never found a heel I really like. It could be I need more practice this way. It could…Read more Final Stage of TdS

Makers Market

On Saturday, one of my local yarn stores was having a Makers Market featuring local artists. I meet M.K. (Malabrigo K) for lunch and shopping. There was hand dyed fabric, jewelry, buttons, pottery and much more. M.K. found some really amazing wooden buttons that were finished with bees wax. They looked amazing and even smelled…Read more Makers Market

Marshmallows & Meditation

This week marked a special occasion for the British Hubby and I. To celebrate, we decided to make a family favorite: chocolate covered marshmallows. While you can use special equipment, we used a small sauce pan, wooden spoon, skewer and parchment paper for our chocolate adventure. The combination of milk chocolate and marshmallow was a…Read more Marshmallows & Meditation

Shall I knit you a hat?

July seems to be all about knitting hats (with a side order of socks). I love knitting hats. It's portable and relatively quick to knit (especially baby hats). They make great gifts. The British Hubby and I even have some for various holidays. I love to put on a new hat when it starts to turn…Read more Shall I knit you a hat?

We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat!

Today is a national holiday in the United States. Many Americans will celebrate with food, family, friends and fireworks. The British Hubby and I celebrate by watching Jaws. We have quite the collection of Jaws paraphernalia. Over the years, we've purchased t-shirts, hoodies and mugs. One mug even changes when you put hot liquids in…Read more We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat!

It’s all about the Sock

It's the first day of July. That means it's time to start thinking about liberating my next eight or nine Orphans (remember, I have those four from June to make up). Here's a a group shot of the four liberated Orphans of June. I frogged one project and finished three. The pink skein of arroyo…Read more It’s all about the Sock

Musings on the Midwest

I grew up in the Midwest. The British Hubby always says, "You can take the girl out of the Midwest, but you can't take the Midwest out of the girl." I'll always be a Midwesterner at heart. Here's a few highlights of my favorite things to do when I visit my family. Lightening bugs also…Read more Musings on the Midwest

Stage Three Begins

Stage three of Tour de Sock began Tuesday morning. I told myself I wouldn't cast on six new pairs of socks when I'm trying to liberate my Orphans, but you know I can't resist casting on another pair of socks. The pattern is so neat! I also love the idea of expanding my sock knitting skills.…Read more Stage Three Begins

Road Trip to Portland

This past weekend, the British Hubby and I took a road trip to Portland, Oregon. I forgot to pack my camera or I would be sharing the stunning views from our Rustic bungalow. The Pacific Northwest never fails to amaze me with its beauty. While I did forget my camera, I didn't forget to check…Read more Road Trip to Portland

One Sock, Two Sock

What's better than one pair of socks? Two pairs of socks! My I present my first two liberated Orphans of June. Rye in Malabrigo Rios in Vaa for the British Hubby. The right pair is Kam Chu from Tour de Sock in 2014. I'm not sure what the yarn is since I didn't put it in Ravelry.…Read more One Sock, Two Sock
